COLOR: TOO MUCH IS NOT ENOUGH

There is no "one right answer" to your color dilemmas. The good news is, there are many right answers. Mary takes the mystery out of the color wheel and even invents a new color scheme. Fun pictures of painted houses and cars illustrate how you can learn about color and design in the world around you.

COTTON CANDY QUILTS

Busy, but fun prints. Feed sacks and vintage and reproduction prints from the 30s-70s provide a walk down memory lane. You hate them or you buy them but can't cut them. Mary shares some of their history and shows how they can be made into new quilts. Find out how she approaches making quilts with fabric from the "near past".

DOUBLE EXPOSURE: SHARED EXPERIENCE . . . DIFFERING VIEWS

Mary joins her sister Roberta Horton for this special lecture. They share a love of quiltmaking, fabric, and color. They also share common genes. Their shared visions are filtered through different minds and expressed by different hands. Hear how the sisters share a home (with two studios, of course) and manage to produce quilts that express their own perspective and talent.

Presentation with Roberta. (Special fee)

YOU CAN NEVER OWN TOO MANY STRIPES

Mary bills herself as one of the foremost buyers of stripe fabrics in the country. It doesn't make any difference what color, size, or style a stripe is. She says, "If it isn't nailed down, I'll buy it." Stripes are great in both traditional and contemporary quilts as well as wearables.
